Opening Curves

The initial 45 degree angled line can be pull and streched into a curve to selectively redefine the value of any tone in the image. To increase contrast, click on the line at an input value of 128 to lock in the current value for a middle gray. Then drag the upper right portion of the curve up and the lower left portion of the curve down to make the lights lighter and the darks darker.
