Slide Marking Guide

TO INSURE CORRECT RECORD KEEPING, REDUCE ENTRY HANDLING, AND SPEED UP THE COMPETITION, PLEASE PREPARE YOUR SLIDES AS SHOWN BELOW:

1 Look at the slide as you want it to appear on the screen when projected. Make sure any lettering appearing in the image reads correctly from left to right.

2 Place a large dot in the lower left corner of the image. (When properly loaded into a slide tray, the slide will be rotated by 180 degrees (upside down) and placed with the dot in the upper right corner).

3 Turn the slide upside down and print your name on the top of the slide.

4 Print a short descriptive title on the bottom of the upside down slide.

5 Print the competition category (B, A, S or OM) on the left edge of the upside down slide.

6 Leave the right edge of the upside down slide blank. The competition committee will add the competition #, your score and any awards you receive to this area.

Hints for better scores:

1. Clean your slides. Some judges deduct points for dirt.

2. When cropping, keep all corners square or all corners round. Don't mix them.

3. Don't use mounts with adhesive that can leak onto your emulsion. Use only tape designed specifically for cropping (Scotch 350) or the adhesive will run and jam the projector.

4. Use thin mounts particularly for montages (like Weiss or Gepe). Thick mounts jam the projector.

5. The Sharpie Ultra Fine pens are useful for marking plastic mounts.
